An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join a Medicines Management team in Luton. This part-time locum role offers ongoing work within a community-focused healthcare setting, providing vital support to patients through safe and effective medicines management.

The role is ideal for a Pharmacy Technician with experience in medicines optimisation who is seeking flexible working alongside professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake home visits to support medicines management, including medicines reconciliation and patient support

  • Investigate incidents involving missing controlled drugs in line with policy and governance requirements

  • Participate in team huddles and contribute to triage of discharge letters

  • Identify and resolve medicines safety issues to support medicines optimisation and reduce hospital readmissions

  • Work collaboratively with Community Care Services (CCS) teams and adult social care to ensure effective medicines management

  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to relevant policies and procedures

Please note: This role does not involve dispensing medication.


Essential Criteria

  • BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services (or equivalent), meeting requirements for General Pharmaceutical Council registration

  • Significant experience in medicines management, particularly within community or primary care settings

  • Sound knowledge of drug usage, medicines optimisation, and stock control

  • Experience in patient-facing roles, including medicines advice and counselling

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
