Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Social Worker to join the Adults Learning Disability Team at Blackpool Council. Based at the Bickerstaffe Offices, this flexible locum position is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. Working hours are Monday to Thursday, 9:00am – 5:00pm, and Friday until 4:30pm. In this role, you will contribute significantly to improving the lives of adults and young people with learning disabilities by completing Care Act Assessments and reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed assessments and reviews under the Care Act 2014 in line with departmental policies.

  • Lead or participate in safeguarding procedures, including investigations where required.

  • Work collaboratively with carers, internal teams, and external agencies to deliver outcome-based support plans.

  • Ensure adherence to statutory, departmental, and professional standards.

  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate case records using the council’s IT systems.

  • Actively participate in supervision sessions, team meetings, and reflective practice discussions.


Essential Qualifications and Requirements

  • A recognised qualification in Social Work (e.g., Degree in Social Work or DipSW).

  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Demonstrated experience working with adults with learning disabilities and managing complex care packages.

  • Sound understanding and application of safeguarding legislation and procedures.

  • Strong multi-agency working skills, with a commitment to collaborative practice.
