Youth Justice Officer
Location: Peterborough (Hybrid working – 3 days office-based, 2 days remote)
Contract: Temporary, Full-time
Rate: £23.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Seven Resourcing is recruiting a dedicated Youth Justice Officer to join a forward-thinking Youth Justice Service in Peterborough. This role offers a hybrid working model and the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people involved in, or at risk of entering, the youth justice system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people subject to statutory and non-statutory youth justice interventions
  • Complete high-quality assessments of risk, safety, vulnerability, needs, and strengths
  • Develop and deliver SMART intervention plans in partnership with children, families, and multi-agency colleagues
  • Provide 1:1 and family-based interventions across a range of settings including homes, schools, community venues, and the office
  • Supervise children in line with National Standards, monitoring compliance and progress
  • Take appropriate enforcement action where there is non-compliance or an escalation in risk
  • Attend Youth Court hearings, supporting children and preparing clear written and verbal reports
  • Manage out-of-court disposals, including triage assessments and diversionary interventions
  • Work closely with partners such as police, children’s social care, health, education, and voluntary agencies
  • Contribute to safeguarding, contextual safeguarding, and multi-agency risk management processes
  • Promote restorative justice approaches and ensure victims’ perspectives are heard
  • Maintain accurate, timely case records and update ChildView systems in line with service requirements
  • Work in accordance with Child First principles, legislation, and Youth Justice Service policies and procedures

Requirements and Experience

  • Experience working with children and young people within youth justice, safeguarding, or a related field
  • Strong assessment, report writing, and case management skills
  • Confidence working in multi-agency environments and court settings
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and partners
  • Knowledge of youth justice legislation, National Standards, and Child First practice
