Mechanical Development Engineer
An established precision engineering business, specialising in high-performance machined components and complex assemblies for highly regulated, safety-critical sectors, is looking for a Mechanical Development Engineer to join its Design team.
This is a hands-on, varied role where a Mechanical Development Engineer will bridge the gap between design, manufacture and production readiness, ensuring customer assemblies are robust, practical and fully defined.
What You’ll Do as a Mechanical Development Engineer:

Review customer assemblies for manufacturability and component suitability

Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve design or process issues

Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings in the MRP system

Ensure designs are production-ready and aligned with workshop capabilities

Support cross-functional teams, from Purchasing to Account Management
Skills & Experience of a Mechanical Development Engineer:
-
Engineering knowledge and practical experience suited to a Mechanical Development Engineer role
-
Mechanical degree advantageous but not essential
-
CAD modelling experience
-
Understanding of workshop/manufacturing processes
-
Confident communicator and team player
