Orion are partnered with our client to support them on their quest to embed their first Prototype Engineer into their fast moving and forward thinking engineering facility  located in Farnborough. 

The Prototype Engineer comes to the market at a pivotal time for our client due to rapid success and making serious waves in the industries they serve. The Prototype Engineer will be the key point of contact between the Development and Production Teams, supporting them on product development and prototype testing (down to component level), to support a seamless transition of new products.

What will you be doing as their Prototype Engineer?

  • You will be able to modify and create new and modify existing PCB schematics, layouts and BOMs ready for PCB manufacture and any exisiting mechanical drawings.
  • Work with our Production Technicians to learn the equipment as well as consult with them and support them to ensure they can build and test products with effective quality control
  • You will be a key member of the team providing support to production and development teams and to customers You will be the first point of contact for production support liaising with other colleagues to provide solutions.

What do you need to be able to demonstrate? 

  • Able to fault find down to component level on electro-mechanical products 
  • PCB design package creation and modification (schematic, layout, BOM)
  • Building test jigs and cables
  • Ability to confidently communicate and collaborate between two teams at any one time (i.e. Production and Design)
